Puts IT providers and business owners in control of workers’ mobile devices and their remote applications
Mobile World Congress: AVG Technologies, an online security company with 197 million active users, has announced the immediate availability of AVG Business Secure Sign-On (SSO).
Underpinned by technology from identity management provider, Centrify, AVG Business SSO works to provide AVG partners and business owners with a simple way to control company data on employees’ mobile devices and cloud applications. Centrify is contributing its cloud-based authentication and mobile device management service to AVG Business SSO.
Key features of AVG Business SSO include centralised control of cloud and mobile apps and data for one-click authentication of end user mobile devices, with single secure sign-on with multi-factor authentication (MFA) for any device unifies identity and mobile device management to give simplified control of mobile data. Also, an affordable identity policy, verification and mobile device management service, including via Active Directory, plus efficient password management, so eliminating risk from easy to remember, reused or improperly managed passwords, improves end user productivity by eliminating the need to remember multiple passwords and reduces volume of helpdesk calls resulting from forgotten passwords
The company also pointed to a large range of business applications that includes support for more than 2,500 of the most popular Cloud-based business apps including Office 365, Salesforce, Webex, Facebook, LinkedIn and many more, helping IT providers monetise mobile and cloud management services.
The new services is also integrated with AVG Business Managed Workplace, which provides a single, secure access layer to AVG’s entire security and remote monitoring and management (RMM) services portfolio.
“Mass ownership of personal mobile devices, the adoption of popular consumer cloud services like Skype and Dropbox for business purposes and the impact of the Internet of Things have been the catalysts for true ‘business without walls’,” said Mike Foreman, general manager, AVG Business. “Business in a fully connected environment puts smaller firms at risk of data breaches. AVG Business SSO for the first time makes it simple for businesses without big budgets or inhouse IT staff to keep company confidential data safe, private and within their control, even while it is shared with employee-owned mobile devices and externally hosted cloud services.”
Added Shreyas Sadalgi, Centrify’s senior vice president of business development: “In partnership with Centrify, AVG’s SSO supports the most popular operating systems including Windows, Mac, iOS and Android in recognition of the multi-device world that small businesses have embraced today. Our easy to use cloud-based authentication and mobile device management service, saves businesses time logging in and out of applications, cuts down on ‘shadow-IT’ and ensures regulatory compliance.”
SSO capability is the most significant of several new additions to the AVG Business portfolio being released today. From today AVG Business CloudCare features several updates designed to make partners’ lives even easier. These include a new customer drop-down box that allows IT providers to adjust the settings of one or all their customers with a single click, a central, holistic view of sales alerts, support for HTML-5, and simpler access to customised reporting.
