Increasing levels of mobility among executives, consultants, sales and field professionals

The global mobile workforce is set to increase from 1.45 billion in 2016, accounting for 38.8% of the global workforce, to 1.87 billion in 2022, accounting for 42.5% of the global workforce, according to the Strategy Analytics’ latest report.

Globalisation and continued advancements in mobile technology and applications will continue to increase levels of mobility among executives, consultants, sales and field professionals, and other mobile professionals in all regions.

According to Gina Luk, senior analyst and author of the Strategy Analytics Mobile Workforce Strategies (MWS) reports, in overall terms, the workforces in the US and Canada have been aging along with the populations in general. The workforces in the most economically developed parts of Europe are aging and shrinking, and the workforces in most of Asia (except Japan and South Korea), the Middle East, and South America are growing and getting younger. The growth of the mobile worker in much of Africa is also improving.

Added Andrew Brown, executive director of enterprise research at Strategy Analytics: “If we compare regional data, North America and Western Europe are still the leading regions in terms of leading the mobile worker penetration. The mobile workers in these developed regions adopt and use far more mobile technologies (eg, laptops, smartphones, tablets, mobile device security, enterprise mobility management, business mobile applications, IoT, big data analytics, mobile cloud and virtual reality) than any other regions. Businesses are also continuing to take advantages of telecommuting, and offering employees flexible working environments.”
