Ericsson provides sustainable solution with efficient power consumption

Ericsson has been selected by Orange Jordan to provide its latest environmental and sustainable solutions to transform Orange's network in Jordan, enabling better coverage and improved connectivity.

Ericsson's sustainable solutions will enhance the connectivity experience for Orange subscribers, while lowering the energy consumption and helping Orange to reduce its environmental impact.

As part of the agreement, Ericsson will upgrade Orange Jordan's existing packet core and renew its radio access network by replacing the operator's old radio base stations and introducing Ericsson's latest RBS 6000 family of base stations. This energy efficient compact solution will allow Orange to develop new, high speed mobile broadband services, while reducing the deployment cost.

The packet core upgrade includes SGSN on Ericsson Blade System and Ericsson Evolved Packet Gateway on SSR 8000 family, which will provide an enhanced experience for Orange Jordan subscribers by securing the bandwidth needs of the most demanding online applications with minimal latency.

Jean-Francois Thomas, Orange Jordan CEO said: 'Ericsson has been our exclusive partner of choice for over a decade, supporting us in our strategic expansion objectives and our ongoing efforts to provide subscribers with the best possible connectivity. We have made significant contributions to the telecommunications sector and have ensured its continued evolution. It is through our valued partnerships with industry leaders such as Ericsson that we have been able to provide the high-quality connectivity that solidifies our position as an industry leader in Jordan. I have no doubt that our partnership will continue to expand in the future.'

Tarek Saadi, head of Ericsson North Middle East, added: 'Our continued long term partnership with Orange is a testament to the flexibility, scalability and enhanced performance that Ericsson's solutions offer operators. We are delighted that Orange once again chose Ericsson's solutions, so that together we continue to provide the latest communications technology and services in order for Orange to meet the growing demands of its subscribers.'

Ericsson has been the sole provider for Orange Jordan's telecommunication network requirements for more than 13 years, supporting the operator in building its initial GSM network, 3G network and, most recently, modernising its 2G network, expanding its 3G network and preparing it for 4G LTE
