Melodigram offers iPhone users easy sharing of pictures mixed with sound across social networking sites

Mobile messaging platform, Melodigram, today announced the launch of its service that allows users to add music and the spoken word to photos to be shared on social networking sites.

Users of Melodigram can augment mobile photos taken on their iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch with select music tracks and spoken word dialogue, then share their 'melodigram' with friends across social networks, including WhatsApp, Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter.

Users can also send their melodigrams via SMS or email. Melodigram also enables users to augment 'selfies' taken with the iPhone's front-view camera.  Targeted initially at the 16-25 age demographic, Melodigram will market its app across Europe, the US, China, India, and Russia. The app is optimised for mobile audio mixing and messaging for consumers, and can be customised for mobile marketers keen to deliver audio messages through a variety of social networks.

'The mobile moment is best framed as a shared experience, and Melodigram helps users capture the moment, add the feeling, and share it instantly,' said Jonathan Massey, founder and CEO at Melodigram. 'We wanted to create an elegant app that would enable users to deliver the kind of produced mobile experience that says 'wish you were here' with a level of variety that curates an expressive mashup for friends.'

Created by Minus Degree Mobile, the Finnish mobile design firm that had previously created the Melod.io app for music messaging, Melodigram is a simple way to send expressive messages, or enhance photos with music tracks.

Melodigram raised $1 million in funding from public and private sources in Europe in the second half of 2013.

Melodigram is designed to capture mood moments and add expression by tapping on the library of sounds or music backtracks and pressing and holding the sound icons in the app. Users can then add their voice by pressing and holding the microphone icon to accurately record speech. After previewing the creation, users can share instantly.
