Monitise adds another major UK bank to its mobile money partners

Monitise has announced that it has partnered with a major UK financial institution to help develop a series of mobile money services as part of a three year deal. The name of the bank has not yet been released due to commercial reasons.

Last June Monitise teamed with the The Co-operative Bank to provide smartphone apps and SMS alerts to all of its customers registered for internet banking, and all Smile account holders, in a three year deal.

Monitise Group Chief Commercial Officer Lee Cameron said: 'In line with our planned growth, we are delighted to be supporting yet another financial institution in developing bank-grade compelling mobile money services. With the mobile money landscape fast becoming a battleground for consumer loyalty and share of wallet, we remain convinced that trusted financial services brands belong at the centre of the ecosystem.'

In the UK, Monitise already provides mobile money services to many of the top banks and payments companies. Earlier in February Monitise was named 'Best Technology Supplier 2012' by Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

Beyond its international strategic partnerships with Visa Inc., Visa Europe, RBS and FIS, Monitise works with more than 300 banks and financial institutions around the world and an increasing array of partners positioning to develop and deploy new mobile banking, payments and commerce services.

Other recent partnerships by Monitise include technology and financial services companies Cognizant, CGI, on-demand ecommerce provider Venda, as well as BlackBerry, via a person-to-person mobile payments launch in Indonesia.
