Mind Candy and GREE join forces to make Moshi Monsters mobile games
Mind Candy, the company behind global brand, Moshi Monsters and GREE, provider of mobile social gaming, have joined forces to take Moshi Monsters to mobile devices worldwide. The partnership will kick off with the launch of two new Moshi Monsters mobile games on the GREE Platform, set for release in the fourth quarter of 2012.
The partnership will bring Mind Candy's popular family brand Moshi Monsters to GREE's 230 million worldwide users, while introducing the GREE Platform to an active community of more than 60 million registered Moshi Monsters users globally. The partnership will also expand upon Moshi Monster's cross-continent success by delivering fully localised mobile games in multiple languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and more.
With over 60 million registered users in 150 territories worldwide, Moshi Monsters, an online world of adoptable pet monsters, is growing fast. Within the Moshi Monsters online world, players choose from one of six virtual pet monsters to create, name and nurture. Once their pet has been customised, players navigate their way around Monstro City, taking the daily puzzle challenge to earn 'Rox' (virtual currency).
'Our fans love tablets and smartphones so we're really excited to take our much loved characters and stories to these new platforms,' said Michael Acton Smith, Founder and CEO of Mind Candy. 'GREE has achieved phenomenal success and we're looking forward to working with them on these two games.'
'We're really excited to work with Mind Candy to bring Moshi Monsters to our global mobile community and to the GREE Platform,' said Yoshikazu Tanaka, founder and CEO at GREE. 'Moshi Monsters is a leader in the online industry and has built a great and loyal following. GREE is delighted to be a part of the franchise's move to mobile and believes the relationship is a great opportunity to further illustrate GREE's ongoing commitment to bringing quality content for all gamers to the new platform.'
GREE is dedicated to building a global social mobile gaming community for players and developers alike. As part of its move into the mobile gaming industry, Mind Candy is building an inhouse team to handle mobile partnerships and the internal development of all mobile titles, including several games and apps set for release throughout 2012.
