Brings reliable traffic information to more Russian customers

HERE, a Nokia mapping and location business, has announced traffic information for 16 new cities in Russia, a country afflicted with some of the world's worst traffic conditions.

The expansion of HERE brings real time traffic content through broadcast radio and mobile operators to more customers in the Russian market and total HERE traffic coverage in the country to 31 cities in the country.

Last year reported traffic accidents in the country grew by 1.9% to more than 203,000 and Moscow drivers spent an extra 127 hours on the road due to traffic, according to local figures.

'Reliability and timely information are not trivial concerns for Russian drivers. At HERE, we gather and process billions of real time GPS data probe points every month to deliver high quality, automotive grade maps so that drivers can better manoeuvre through traffic,' said Ogi Redzic, vice president for traffic at HERE.

'Our expansion in Russia underscores our deep commitment to providing local market expertise and helping people in the country save time, fuel and experience less stress while driving.'

HERE traffic is used by a broad range of OEM and automotive customers in the country, including Alpine Electronics and Carmani Supply Chain Specialists.

HERE has more than a decade of experience in delivering real time traffic across the broadest set of distribution channels. Currently HERE traffic is offered in 33 countries and is available in in-vehicle navigation, personal navigation devices, mobile phone users, tablets and websites.
