New photography from Tyler Shields showcased on the Xperia Tablet Z

Sony has teamed up with renowned LA-based photographer, Tyler Shields, to create The Science of Colour, a new all-digital art exhibition, which sees Shields use the Xperia Tablet Z as his canvas.

Taking place at The Dray Walk Gallery in London's Truman Brewery, The Science of Colour is a collection of art digitally displayed for the first time on the Xperia Tablet Z to create a unique and ever-changing gallery experience. Some of the work has also been shot under water using the Xperia Z smartphone.

The Science of Colour continues the visual narrative Shields began with his Chromaticphotographic series. With explosive colours at the heart of this new collection, Shields juxtaposes vivid hues against stark, arresting landscapes to create compelling images that command the viewer's attention.

Shields, who will attend The Science of Colour London launch on 11 July said: 'I'm beyond excited to create my first all digital exhibition. Technology plays such an important part in stimulating the imagination, which is why working with Sony who produce amazing visual experiences was a natural fit; especially since that's exactly what I aim to achieve in all of my photographs. Combining my love of colour with technology to display my photographs is really exciting and I'm very proud to be creating the exhibition.'

Catherine Cherry, Sony mobile communications, marketing director North West Europe, added: 'Tyler's unique vision is the perfect way for Sony to showcase the exceptional HD viewing experience you get from the Xperia Tablet Z in a visually engaging and contemporary way. Attitudes to technology are constantly changing, as is consumers hunger for original and pioneering ideas. This is why Sony continually pushes the boundaries of design and innovation. The Science of Colour seamlessly reflects our heritage in colour and illustrates the best features of the Xperia Tablet Z, which is the only product that can do such beautiful art justice.'

The Science of Colour launches on Thursday 11 July 2013 at The Dray Walk Gallery, and will be open to the public from Friday 12 July to Sunday 14 July 2013.
