Multiplayer tournament games platform launched for mobile operators

Star Arcade, provider of multiplayer mobile gaming, has announced the launch of the Star Arcade Multiplayer Tournament Gaming Platform for mobile network operators.

Star Arcade games have been historically available on major handset vendor stores including the iPhone App Store, Google Play and the Nokia App Store. Star Arcade announced its first mobile operator partnership with Saudi Telecom Company (STC) at the Mobile World Congress in February 2012.

Following the successful implementation at STC, Star Arcade has now decided to open up its real time multiplayer tournament platform to global mobile operators offering them the Star Arcade gaming platform bundled with multiplayer games that can be played between mobile subscribers irrespective of the handset operating system they are using.

Harri Myllyla, CEO at Star Arcade, commented on the launch: 'Mobile Games have always been very popular with consumers through the mobile operator game store, but there has been a declining trend for standard single player games. Game players expect a multi player social experience enabling them to interact and play with their friends irrespective of the device their peers may own.

'The Star Arcade games platform offers real time game play supported by competitive gaming leader boards, tournament mode, in-game chat, virtual goods and enhanced Facebook integration. We are enabling mobile operators in reinventing the mobile gaming experience, retaining subscribers and opening up a new a new revenue stream that did not exist before,' Myllyla continued.

The Star Arcade platform enables mobile operators to build bespoke campaigns and run gaming tournaments. Tournaments include a monthly subscription for participation in the competition and enables consumers to play all available games on the platform. Gamers with the highest scores are ranked on the leader board and earn rewards.

Myllyla concluded: 'We are actively seeking partnerships with global mobile operators who are interested in introducing multi player gaming on their network. The Star Arcade gaming platform does not require any upfront investment from the mobile operators and we purely operate on a revenue share basis. We can set up and customise the platform for the mobile operator enabling them to launch within a few weeks rather than months.'

Mobile operators can customise the tournament prizes by either giving physical goods such as phones, tablets and cameras, and can offer their own services such as free airtime or additional messaging credits. The games platform also enables operators insert their own advertising messages and branding within the games.
