EE predicts recordbreaking 4G sales in run up to Christmas
EE, a UK 4G company, today announced that 4G is now live in 10 more towns and cities, bringing the total to 141. Masts across the UK are being upgraded every day as 4G demand increases, and a further 19 places will be covered by superfast 4GEE by Christmas.
4G from EE goes live today in Bath, Bournemouth, Brighton, Cambridge, Darlington, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Northampton, Poole Portsmouth and Redcar. These places will now benefit from superfast internet access on mobiles, tablets and laptops, helping people and businesses to do more online, on the go, whether that's working or enjoying, social media, music and videos.
By Christmas, customers in Aberdeen, Braintree, Cheltenham, Chester, Dundee, Durham, Exeter, Gloucester, Grimsby, Ipswich, Lincoln, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Peterborough, Plymouth, Stoke-on-Trent, Swansea, Swindon and York will also be able to benefit from 4G.
EE predicted a recordbreaking month of 4G sales in the run up to Christmas.
Olaf Swantee, chief executive officer, EE, said: 'From online banking and mobile shopping, to streaming music and using maps, 4G is enabling us to do more of our favourite things quickly and easily on the go. Smartphones and tablets on 4GEE are going to be a very popular present this Christmas as people across the UK continue to embrace mobile living and we make the superfast service available in even more places.'
The 4GEE Mobile Living Index, which will be released in full later this week, will reveal that 4G is set to transform Christmas shopping this year as faster mobile internet speeds allow people to shop for gifts from their mobile devices. 39% of 4GEE customers say they will buy their gifts on their smartphone or tablet this year – up from 15% last year – with fashion, electronics and books the most popular purchases.
