Company looks at selling HERE on back of today’s announcement of acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent
Following today’s announcement that Nokia is to buy Alcatel-Lucent for Euro 15.5 billion to create a telecoms equipment provider giant, Nokia has stated it is now looking into options for its HERE business.
Nokia has initiated a review of strategic options, including a potential divestment, for its HERE business. HERE is a provider of navigation, mapping and location intelligence.
The company commented in a statement that: “The Board of Directors of Nokia believes this is the right moment to assess the position of HERE within the proposed new Nokia business.”
It added that “The strategic review of HERE is on-going and it may or may not result in any transaction.”
