Mobile operator wallet billing enables easy purchases from PlayStation Store and across the Sony Entertainment Network
Sony Network Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment have today unveiled a new feature that enables users in the UK to top up their account wallet to obtain content from the PlayStation Store and across the Sony Entertainment Network using their mobile phone account.
Using mobile operator billing that works in conjunction with all major UK mobile operators, the service is based on technology from mobile payments company, Boku.
The Boku service process makes it easier for users to obtain PlayStation Store and Sony Entertainment Network content, including downloadable games, add-ons, themes, movies and TV shows, as well as subscriptions to the Music Unlimited service.
Sony customers choose 'mobile' as the payment option, enter their mobile phone number, and respond via SMS to confirm the wallet top-up. The wallet top-up charge will appear on their next mobile phone bill, or are debited against their pre-paid account.
Gordon Thornton, vice president, Sony Network Entertainment Europe, said: 'We are always looking at new ways to give our customers more choice in terms of content, accessibility and payment methods, and are pleased to be able to offer the option of mobile operator billing, which are becoming more and more popular.'
Wallet top-ups with mobile operator billing can be made through the Sony Entertainment Network Account Management website and PlayStation Store on PlayStation 3.
